Artist Name: PHNX
Who are you?
PHNX is more than just a band—it’s a sonic and lyrical journey. As a duo, we merge deep, introspective storytelling with cinematic trip-hop, blending influences from hip-hop, industrial rock, and electronic music. Our sound is atmospheric yet raw, melancholic yet uplifting, always carrying an element of transformation.
Lyrically, PHNX is built on poetry. We see rap as a modern extension of storytelling traditions, whether it’s the wisdom-infused rhymes of Wu-Tang or the ancient skaldic poetry of the Vikings. Our lyrics explore themes of shadow work, healing, and self-discovery, offering a space for vulnerability and reflection.
Musically, our backgrounds shape our sound—Vishnu brings an industrial rock and experimental production approach from Kerala, India, while AERIK KYLO channels the icy, atmospheric trip-hop influences of Norway’s electronic scene. Together, PHNX creates music that transcends borders, blending cultures and emotions into something deeply immersive.
Where are you from?
PHNX is a cross-continental collaboration bridging two distinct worlds—I'm AERIK KYLO, based in the Arctic Lofoten Islands of Norway, and my bandmate, Vishnu Prakash, is from tropical Kerala, India. Our music reflects this duality, blending icy, atmospheric trip-hop with raw, industrial energy.
The music scene in Lofoten is small but deeply passionate, with a strong appreciation for artistry and storytelling. Growing up between Lofoten and Bodø, I was heavily influenced by Northern Norway’s underground hip-hop and electronic music scenes. Tromsø, in particular, was a game-changer—home to pioneers like Röyksopp and Biosphere, proving that you can make world-class music even from a remote Arctic town.
Meanwhile, Kerala has an incredibly diverse music culture, from Carnatic classical to electronic and rock. Vishnu comes from the heavy industrial and experimental rock scene there, bringing that edge to PHNX.
Shoutout to all the independent artists pushing boundaries worldwide—especially those in the Arctic and the tropics, proving that music has no borders!
How can we follow you?
