Repost Rewind Vol. 7: A sonic send-off for 2020

Welcome to the seventh edition of Repost Rewind — and subsequently our last roundup of 2020. Luckily, we send off this tumultuous year with a selection of 10 of our finest recent discoveries. These artists run the gamut of the musical landscape; they are established creators who chart mainstream, bedroom geniuses who grind out magic in relative obscurity and everywhere else in between.

In light of this historically trying year, we encourage you to follow or send a message to any of these Repost by SoundCloud artists if you vibe with their tracks. Think of the small gesture as a way of spreading some positivity before we steer out of 2020. With that, we hope you enjoy what you hear. See you in 2021.

Think your music should make our list? All tracks are taken from creators using Repost by SoundCloud to distribute their work. We listen to every submission, so if your track passes quality checks & our team likes what they hear, it’s eligible to be selected in future editions.

K-Si Yang – “Call On Me”

Primetime contemporary R&B from the sunny shores of Miami. A weightless, understated instrumental neatly complements the airy vocals of K-Si Yang.

For fans of: The Weeknd, Sángo, Phabo

K-Si Yang · Call On Me(Prod. Vinny X Coopthetruth)

Jerré x Ella Mae – “Lose Sight”

“Lose Sight” is the result of a transatlantic collab between NYC’s Jerré and Brighton’s Ella Mae, who is known for her soulful vocal contributions to distinguished labels like Brownswood and Banoffee Pies.

For fans of: Fatima, Dwele, A Tribe Called Quest

Jerré · lose sight feat. ella mae | prod. fatB

Don Kew – “She”

Lyrical hip-hop full of love and lament from Indianapolis, perfectly paired with a head-bobbing, guitar-led instrumental.

For fans of: Chance The Rapper, Rejjie Snow, Psymun

don kew · she [prod. by p.soul]

Z.A.M.P.A. – “No Me Verás Caer”

Majestic organ electronica from the excellent Vaarios Artistas label out of Ciudad de México. Slow-burning, gorgeous and unsettling all at once, this is the kind of track that deserves full attention once it drifts into your headphones.

For fans of: Nosaj Thing, Lusine, Múm

VAA varios artistas · No Me Verás Caer

Monir – “Clandestine”

This is heads-down, percussive UK bass rhythms from Manchester’s Monir that will sound formidable on a club system when those sweet late nights finally return.

For fans of: ∆kkord, Batu, Caski

Skiptrace · Monir – Clandestine

Cuban Chamber of Commerce – “Scared of Falling”

This warhead of a juke/footwork/bass crossover track was sent in to us via Cuban Chamber of Commerce (who is actually based in Belgrade). It’s intense syncopated chunks pelted at you at roughly 160bpm. Superb.

For fans of: Rashad, Spinn, Chrissy

Cuban Chamber of Commerce · Cuban Chamber of Commerce – Goofing Off [Low Income $quad]

Giulia Grosskop – “This Situation…?”

Long and weaving melodies soaked in tape hiss that evoke elements of folk contemporaries like Julie Byrne and the chorus-soaked bedroom pop of Coma Cinema. This is just an early taste of what’s to come from Giulia Grosskop.

For fans of: Julie Byrne, Elvis Depressedly, Emily Yacina

Giulia Grosskop · This Situation…?

Sour Janes – “Ride”

Country-infused psychedelic rock from Berlin’s finest, Sour Janes. As we slip into colder, darker months, this alt-rock trip is the perfect soundtrack for the winter blues.

For fans of: Sugar Candy Mountain, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Wilco

Sour Janes · Ride

Edelweiss – “(No)”

Spritely noughties-esque indie from Edelweiss. Jaunty and upbeat, “No” stylistically harks back to a simpler time of indie discos, impressively styled pseudo mullets and a pint glass of snakebite and black.

For fans of: Foals, Two Door Cinema Club, Bloc Party

ToKy · (No)

Sober – “Good Trouble”

We leave you with a country curveball courtesy of Sober, who blends traditional Deep South with elements of neo-blues and soul.

For fans of: Rag’n’Bone Man, Jacob Banks, Seasick Steve

Sober · Good Trouble

Featured Artist: Christine King

Featured Artist: Christine King

C.K. criminally undersells herself. Her listed influences are not exactly the avant-garde heroes of yesterday, but the music screams "real." It is edgy, LA indie, with heart and creativity. The ghosts of PJ Harvey, Mates of State, and the Runaways are waking up. Who...

SUPREME: Hey Code, what's up? CODE 6: You reposted other tracks of mine and I got some good organic plays from it. SUPREME: Yeah that's cause your shit is so chill and we love it. Glad to see you have a new track out. If you could reach any goal in 2021, what would it...

Featured Artist: l3fthand

l3fthand creates sonic landscapes with complicated rhythms and odd themes. He drew us in pretty quickly with his Alien abduction intro. "l3fthand curates sounds that contain otherworldly properties, working with multiple genres and unconventional production techniques...

Featured Artist: Young Gxn

Young Gxn has a timbre in his voice that is reminiscent of old-man Q-Tip, but his secret weapon is something that Q never had -- he has an incredible falsetto singing voice. This track is short and thrilling. Look forward to more from this artist.  Who are you?...

Miriam Robinson

Miriam is a 19 year old singer/songwriter with music that is sensual, yet can take you to a deep, dark place in your mind. She tends to play mostly in R&B, but you might find some hiphop/rap or pop influences sprinkled in. "Music is expressive and for me I like to...
