In 1967, on October 7, one of the most successful pairs in music history signed to DJM Publishing. Reg Dwight (Elton John) and songwriting partner Bernie Taupin were both under age 21. Their parents had to witness their signatures. John and Taupin met through an advertisement for a lyric writer in the New Musical Express. The pair have since collaborated on over 30 albums.
Izzy Stradlin quit Guns N’ Roses today in 1991. Guitarist Gilby Clarke replaced Stradlin. Stradlin had difficulty managing his newfound sobriety being around Slash, Matt Sorum, and Duff McKagan. He was tired of Axl Rose’s antics.
In 2004, BBC Radio 1’s airwaves turned blue when guest Elton John used the words f****ing, w**k, and t**s. This happened on Chris Moyles Radio 1 breakfast show in the UK.

1965, October 8, young Bruce Springsteen performed at the I.B. Club in Howell, New Jersey. The Castiles opened for NYC band The Florescents. Admission was $1.00 for this first advertised nightclub show of The Castiles.
The record label bosses at EMI recalled a vinyl anniversary edition of The Beatles‘ hit single “Love Me Do” on October 8, 2012. They had pressed a version that included session musician Andy White playing drums instead of Ringo Starr. Copies of the disc featuring the wrong version were selling on eBay.
